I was just thinking that so much of our modern existence revolves around what is essentially continuation of the species. Modern entertainment and culture virtually overflow with sexual reference. We spend most of our free time looking for that " Special someone", when in reality it really comes down to the primal urge to procreate. Don't get me wrong, I am all for it and wouldn't give up women for anything. I was just thinking sort of theoretically ( prompted by the wealth of online dating sites and their popularity) what would humans be doing instead if we weren't all looking for mates. We are so evolved in so many ways, and yet are slaves to our hormones .

Our intelligence has evolved, but you could say our base instincts are still fairly much the same (though hopefully one's approach these days will be a bit more romantic than clubbing someone on the head and dragging them away - though not for some hey? hehe).

You could argue that a fully evolved intelligence will be seperate to and be able to overcome one's emotional and instinctive behaviour (think 'Vulcan') but not sure if this would be a good thing or not, for there is something else that doesn't tend to evolve - corruption!!

true, I mean marriage really just start for financial bond, but we still get married when women can support themselves. However most women find it so important to be married. I have to admit it is important to me to find someone I can share my life with. I mean how meaningless would life be without love? All work and no love? I dont think we need to evolve anymore.

You big twit, we didn't come from monkeys!! If you believe we have then the answer is clearly, yes we have 'evolved'. Otherwise, GOD CREATED MAN!
