I let him outside yesterday and he ended up getting into the neighbor's yard and playing with their dogs. Now that he's back inside the house all he does is whine and run to the door. He whines like he's running out of breath. Any reason why he's doing this? What can I do to make him stop?

He's not neutered either, but I don't know if that has any effect on his behavior or not. He's about a year old and an American Eskimo.

Another dog outside in heat. Get him neutered before you have puppies.

The dog is most likely whining because he is bored. He has learned that playing with the dogs has satisfied that drive. Find a job for him. Even obedience is a good outlet. dogs deal with stress differently. There is an amount of stress when the dog is frustrated and the whining is the release of frustration. Hope this helps. mike

1. Might need love 2. Want to be with someone close 3. Perhaps want a closer pet, like a cat 4. Maybe she is scared of something. My advice, let time heal. If that doesn't help, take the dog to the vet if you suspect thing that is wrong.

I do believe getting him neutered would be a start, he also is lonely for dog friends just like human children he had fun he wants to go back over and play. Are any of the dogs next store females that are not spayed?

Yes, there is a female who is in heat. He will continue to be unbearable because he isn't neutered and this is nature at its best. He will do everything to get out and mate with this female. You need to get him neutered, it is also best for him health wise. Don't let him mate and bring more puppies into the world.

He wants someone to play with. My dogs are miserable without each other. Get another dog or talk to your neighbor about them playing together. Getting him fixed this late in the game will not fix the problem if it is a female in heat they have already got scent now.

remember dogs are a pack animal, he was with the neighbors dogs and now he's missing the company and you should get him neutered because when a neighborhood female comes in to heat he will drive you crazy and will do almost anything to get to her.
