Please help me. I need to lose weight and I need to jumpstart my diet. I heard about water fasting. How is it done and what are the steps?

I would not recommend water fasting; it's too harsh on your body. You deprive your body of essential nutrients that you get when you actually consume food. Besdies the nutrients, our bodies need calories to function as well. You will also be lacking these.
I would like to suggst trying a juice fast instead. This does not consist of drinking the sugary crap that you find in the store. It entails making fresh juice with fruit and vegetables. It will detox you and still give you the vitamins and minerals that your body needs to function properly.
If you don't have access to a juicer, you might want to try a raw foods diet. This will also allow you get what you need without a lot of calories. All you do is eat nothing but raw food and drink water. That might be a bit safer than the water fast. Both of my options can be done safely for as short as a day or as long as 10 days. Remember that it's important to slowly work your way up to a fast (so you don't shock your body) and after the fast, slowly incorporate "normal" foods back into your diet. If you go to www.about.com, they have a lot of different fasts and diets listed step-by-step.
Good luck!
