I didn't necessarily know that South Dakota had different garb for funerals, but I'd say you can never go wrong with simple black at a funeral.
As for the suit thing, I think it's in the best taste, but a black shirt and slacks could work too.

pshhhhhhhht..look wear what you want to a funeral no matter where you go. YOu think they are going to "kick you out" of a funeral? how PC would that be? now you know black is what people wear to funerals all across the nation!

But inside, a dark blue, grey, or black suit is generally the attire.
