i have a phobia i am going to blow up. i also have a fear of flying. i developed it a family member of mine died right in front of me in 2001. also 9/11 occured right after she died. then i got on a plane and had a panic attack. i went to an emergency room. they had an air marshall with me. i flew a few times after that, but i find it disruptive to other people for me to be there.
also, i have this blowing up on fire fear, like when im driving. and i think about it all the time in my home. i feel like something is going to make me blow up.
what should i do? i dont want to take medicines, as believe it or not, i am not depressed.

I'm not sure how you get rid of a fear of blowing up - I've never heard of that - but maybe a psychologist? But - I have developed a fear of flying since 9/11. I actually took a international flight a month after it happened - I thought I was all big and bad. And then the last 2 flights I took about a year later were AWFUL. Not only did I think I was going to die, I was looking around me seeing who was on the plane and wondering how I could disarm them if they started any sh*t. Anyways, you couldn't pay me to get on a plane now. I'll drive first. Good Luck.

It is completely normal to have a plane panic attack because of your relative (Im sorry about her). However, she wasnt in 9/11 (as you said). Pilots and the crew will try to make your flight as comfortable as possible and since security is upgraded, security and other people are makeing sure 9/11 will never happen again!
Maybe you should take someone (who can drive) along w/ u in the car so you wont have a panic attack.
You should go to a psychologist and take medicine. They can help people like you.
I dont think you are depressed but you are just scared. Calm down and relax.

you should seek professional help. there are ways of coping with and without medications. I am curious why you object to being depressed? it appears that you have some anxiety issues to work out. sometimes systematic desensitation can help certain phobias
it works by gradually exposing you to more and more of what ever the phobia is. I am not sure what the connection is between having a family die "in front of you" and flying have to do with each other unless it was on a plane... you really should research mutliple therapists and find one you like.

If you acknowledge God in all your ways He shall direct your path. Do not fly especially what they take you thru now. I probably would feel the same way without phobia. The experiences in your life can cause the feelings that you have now.
Remember the mind! You can cause things to happen that would not but you thought it into happening.
Your thoughts should be change to more positive way. Pray more about things and wait. Stop driving if you can. Ride the train, read your Bible promise if you believe there is a God. Relax. Your thinking can be cancerous.

First you have to realize and tell yourself that nobody just blows up. Don't just tell yourself that, but think about it. Really who just blows up? Nobody. When you catch yourself thinking irrational thoughts, tell yourself "Hey, this isn't going to happen, I'm just tricking myself into being scared" and then think about something else.

Sure, you can. Make your personal mantra - "I have nothing to fear except fear itself." It works for me everytime.
