Iran began trading its oil in Euros in 2006 which is very damaging for the US dollar and economy as a whole. This is what Saddam did in 2000 and look what happened to him. Venezuela are thinking about doing the same thing and look how high up the agenda Chavez has shot in the US.
Basically any country that doesn't do what the US asks rapidly becomes "evil"!

The facts are quite clear and straight forward.
Iran is dominated by Islamic law. It's not the company line for them, but if you ever visit, you will find that to be true nonetheless.
Because of that, though, Iran will hold in disdain any country in which women are treated as equals, where any religion other than Islam is tolerated, and Israel is supported.
Iran has publicly stated their enmity against both Israel and the US. I was there. I heard it announced personally. And even though I suspect there was much of that talk that was bolstering for the masses, you can't expect the US (or Israel for that matter) to ignore threats.
Having visited and worked in the US no fewer than seven times for a total of more than four years, I can tell you that the Americans don't really see Iran as an enemy, just as a threat. If Iran would do away with its attempts to obtain nuclear weaponry (and only a fool would deny their attempts) and abide by the nonproliferation treaty which they signed, then the USA would probably pay little to no attention to them at all.
American's as a whole tend to be isolationists. They don't really care what the rest of us do as long as they are left alone. They only want to live out thier lives and raise thier families. (You really have to get outside of the cities to find this out. The cities have numerous subcultures that vary greatly so you don't get a good concensus on what they want. You have to get into the smaller towns of the heartland)
That being said, however, when the yanks perceive a threat, you can bet that they are likely to take action and they only give a passing thought as to what the rest of the world thinks of them.
They are very likely to take preventative measures if they think a threat is eminent. Pearl Harbor and the World Trade Center is so deply ingrained into their society that they can't help it.
In spite of what kcl_30 thinks, it has very little to do with the rate of exchange between the euro and the dollar. I was last in the middle east three months ago and they are taking dollars for oil just as fast as they can get thier hands on them, (My line of work is related to the oil industry).
Having visited a goodly number of different countries, I have found the dollar is no less welcome than the euro. The euro does trade at a higher exchange value, but what most people want more than anything else is stability, and the US dollar has a track record that is the envy of the world.
As for the facts. Well in a political arena, facts only exist in the eye of the person who sees it. Here are a few facts for you:
Iran's position is that the Holocaust did not happen.
Iran has publically announced that they will destroy Israel
Iran has been caught red handed supplying weapons to the insurgents in Iraq.
Iran has promised to attack US holdings should the Americans take any action against them.
It sounds to me like Iran has made itself an enemy of the USA by their own actions and choice.

Iran and USA aren't really enemies. Iran's ayatolla minority faction hates America, and uses that as a club against Iran's majority moderates to keep them in line - along with outright violent brutality in case that's not enough.

Lets see - Iraq held our diplomatic personnel hostage for over a year, publicly mistreated the bodies of dead US military personnel, kidnapped and tortured to death Americans in Lebanon, attacked our ships, declared war on us, sponsored terrorist attacks on us, Iranian sponsored terrorists have hijacked American airliners (then tortured to death two US sailors who were in the aircraft).
Now the Iranians are supplying advanced weapons to the Shia militias in an attempt to force out US troops and install a puppet government in Iraq.
Oh and BTW - they openly advocate genocide of the Jews.
I would say that we have reason not to like them.

Courtesy of Jimmy Carter, he left the country in the hands of radicals and was very proud of it.
