Hi there, not only have i been a breeder for yrs but i also work in the animal shelter and a speacialty pet shop (health food for dogs/cats etc) Even feeding a very high quality food usually causes the gas as well but a high quality food cna cause less bowel movements ,reduce allergies, dog eat less etc (innova evo, acana, fromm, solid gold, etc) all dogs like people get gas, for some its worse then others. there are tablets you can buy that can help reduce the gas from the vets or a good pet store !(The most common causes of bad flatulence in dogs include:
Eating too fast - When the dog eats too fast, swallowed air (aerophagia) makes it to the intestines very quickly and in a more concentrated quantity.
The natural processes of producing the gas through food digestion and absorption within the digestive and eliminatory tracts.
Eating foods that are known to cause flatulence (beans, cauliflower etc). Tips that can help diminish the severity of dog flatulence:
Instead of feeding your dog 1 or 2 portions of food per day, divide the daily ration into smaller portions and feed the dog more frequently.
Sometimes dogs eat too quickly because they fear their food will be taken away, so feed your dog in a quiet comfortable area.
Exercise the dog more frequently to stimulate its intestines. also
Activated charcoal is often used in this regard and it does absorb the bad smelling gasses that cause bad flatulence. It must be used with caution and only occasionally however, since it can also rob the dog's body of the nutrients it is getting from its food.

You need to change his diet to a better quality food. Look for one that has no corn.

He should be on a "large breed" formula. Check out Nutro Natural Choice or Canadae (which is an all breed formula). Also check out what treats you are giving him to make sure they aren't a cheap Milk Bone type, or if you are giving him real beef bones to chew(they cause gas).

Last but not least he could have gotten into some garbage or something gross the last couple of days which is causing this gas problem.

It has to be his food, even some "high quality" foods have some weird ingredients, and can cause noxious emissions. I use Science Diet, my elderly Jack Russell was having very bad gas, and my vet put her on RX Science Diet, and since then transitioned her to the senior variety. It has worked very well for her, and I also have a Golden puppy (10 months) who eats the puppy variety. No people food, not on bite!! Get dog treats, not the bacon or "snausage", they are way too spicy, and can give gas also.

Kudos for having your huge dog live inside, he loves you and wants to be part of your family.

The lady above me is referring to the anal glands being expressed, that might help, but is not usually the cause of regular gas :)

Feed a high quality dog food with no soy. Also dogs who chew on wood have gas more.

Even though you are feeding a good quality food, there might be something in it that he is allergic to. Switch to a different flavour of the same brand, and see if that helps. One of my guys is allergic to lamb, so I switched to chicken flavour in the same brand. That took care of the gas.

If that doesn't help, you may have to try a different brand until you find one that agrees with him. Many dogs are allergic to corn, and it's only a filler.

Dogs sometimes have gas when eating cheap , low quality dog food or when given "people" food. I've found when I keep my dog on his healthy food diet, he doesn't have gas. Well, not that I'm aware of.

Blondes are no longer dumb. That is going for the male as nicely by way of fact the female blonde. i think human beings shop telling blonde jokes by way of fact they're humorous. all of us know a minimum of one goofy, stupid, stupid individual who occurs to be blonde so we snigger on the jokes. regularly i think of blonde jokes are so regular by way of fact maximum blondes have a sturdy experience of humour and can take a shaggy dog tale. (an analogous can't be stated of redheads. they could rather be warm tempered and take offense unquestionably.)

Those chews are danger waiting to happen!
Good luck.
