If your for the war then go fight it, put your life where your mouth is. Think you got what it takes, or are you all talk.
Gosh even the Brits are sending their prince to fight. So what about all the politicians sending their kids.

I have to say, everyone has really overlooked what your question actually was.

"Aren't Americans who support the WAR IN IRAQ hypocrites if they have military-age children that aren't serving in the war."

Somehow, lots of people read that wrong. It's not supporting the troops. It's those who support the WAR.

Americans who support the War in Iraq are pretty lame in the first place. I think that perhaps they ought to serve in the war themselves, and see firsthand where their support has got our troops. I don't think forcing anyones children to go because their parents are stupid is fair (I would hate to be punished for my parent's dumb opinions) but I do think they need to come to grips with the fact the war is failing miserably.

I support the troops completely--my husband is a soldier. Our friends are fighting in Iraq. My husband would be, but he (Praise God!) got an injury during training and is getting medically discharged before he goes overseas. I've seen soldiers do some pretty terrible things to themselves to get discharged ASAP when they see that they have their orders to go to Iraq.

I think that any American who supports the war at this point is a hypocrite, regardless of any other criterea.

My husband is in the military and facing his 2nd tour in Iraq. He hates Bush. He wishes he never joined the military but is stuck for the time being. Most of the people I run into feel the same way. So even a lot of the troops don't support the war. They do it because they have to. This question is ridiculous I agree with Common Sense. I also agree that it's not a good idea to resort back to the days in Vietnam when people would berate the troops and call them baby killers.

You're correct, Americans who support the war in Iraq are not hypocrits when it comes to adult children. It's in the US Constitution.

1) The US military is all volunteer.

2) To volunteer to serve the nation in the US military one must be at least 18 years of age and has at least a high school educational level.

3) Adults 18 years of age and older therefore cannot constitutionally be forced by their parents to do or not do anything.

4) Obviously military volunteers know what business "military" is in and has chosen to serve America.

On a side note to your note, even the brit Prince has volunteered. He is neither being sent nor forced.

You can support the war without being in it, or by forcing your children to do so. Until we have a draft, we have an all-volunteer military. As such, we should not be making those who support the war or the people in it to join or send their children.

Part of the reason why we, as a military work well is because we are volunteers and have a better sense of purpose than those "forced" in.

There are different ways to support the military, and to be active in it is only one. I am military serving age, and I'm not in it, but I support it 1million%. I have a friend who is in Iraq AS WE SPEAK, and he really appreciates the fact that people support him. People who don't serve are no more hypocritical than the people that take advantage of our freedom and don't support the men and women who fight for it.

i do no longer agree that our troops could nevertheless be there, yet I do believe the undeniable fact that we ousted Saddam. every physique who thinks the international became a safer place with a individual like him in means is only ignorant and stupid. Why do think of his own human beings positioned him on trial and had him hung? We did no longer invade Iraq via fact of 9/11.....it rather is why we invaded Afghanistan genius. the reason we invaded Iraq became via finished "weapons of mass destruction" subject. which all of us understand became a sham, from suggestions given to the U.S. with the aid of a GERMAN secret agent working for the U.S. do no longer have faith me? do some reasearch and discover out for your self. the only way it style of feels it ought to have been real is that in the event that they hauled off thier weapons into neighboring worldwide places...that should o.k. be available, yet we can't in any respect understand. once you are going to generalize everybody, and make fake assumptions, verify your info, and do a splash study earlier you're saying stupid issues.

How about a disabled veteran? That's me. Injured in the line of duty, drawing a compensation check every month for a broken back. Does that count? I mean, I don't feel like a hypocrite, having served my country in the War on Drugs.

I support our space program & NASA. I don't work for NASA. I must be a hypocrite.

I support our local child protective services. I don't work for our local child protective services. I must be a hypocrite.

I support our local abused spouse support program. I don't work for our local abused spouse support program. I must be a hypocrite.

Your observation is illogical. Additionally, I support our troops (having been one myself), even though I do not agree with this 'war'. It is entirely possible to disagree with your leadership and still follow orders and accomplish your mission. And if you have ever served in the military, you would understand that.

Not at all...You've got it wrong....supporting the troops is entirely different from supporting the war...Those who support the troops do so outta their love for the motherland...So they can in no way be considered hypocrites..But on the other end, those who support Iraq war despite the well known facts of the doctored intelligence are definite hypocrites...there's no denying that..

How do you figure that? I support the police department, the US Postal Service, and DC Comics ... but I don't have any kids working there. The idea that you need grown children working in a voluntary armed force in order to have moral authority regarding foreign policy is utterly, utterly stupid.

I do agree that a bumper sticker doesn't cut it. There are better ways to support the armed forces.
