both my printer and scanner are both about a year old.

Go to Add/Remove Programs and if it is listed REMOVE IT and then REISTALL THEM. That will take care of it. The age of one year has nothing to do with it.

I have the same problem. I got an HP all in one. It won't install so I contacted HP and they said that they still dont have an update but Windows Vista has an alternative driver update or something.. They said that I just plug my printer to my computer. So i did what they said and my prnter works. They said that it's just an alternative, it's not the actual update though

i would visit the manufacturer's website and see if they have a fix for these incompatibility issues.
