Yes, very much so. But the more and more you deal with situations like this, the more you realize that it is indeed something you can overcome and heres the cliche - grow strong from, but ONLY if we decide that its time to move on. Usually that takes a degree of understanding that its not your fault that the person doesn't like you back (unless you're being an *** or something, but i doubt you are).
It hurt so badly the first time, and it took me a few months to totally get over it. The 2nd time around, it took a month. The major difference is the knowing that i'm a great person and the faster i get back on my feet, the faster someone will notice that.

Oh yeah. Often. It always feels that way in the beginning and it always passes with time. But you have to want it to pass. Personally, in a case like the one you describe, it takes me a couple of weeks to decide I wanna stop aching, then another week or two to move on and get over it. So I'd say about a month total. Then I can evaluate with a clear eye the mistakes I might have made and start loving my life without the person I wanted in it, once again. Oh and I believe that every time you come back stronger and more resilient than before. It's such a normal procedure that after a while you just wait for it to pass, like the flu. It hurts like a ***** though, doesn't it? Hang in there...

I think you can get over it if you try but remember you can get more then you try for if you just get an honest answer and find your own way to your heart.
