Windows ME is full of bugs by far the worst system Microsoft came out with - if i was you i would up grade to windows 2000 or down grade to window 98SE.

The operating system propably can not support the player. Try seeing if there any service pack updates on microsoft.com then try downloading again.

Please give more details. Such as, the error messages you received etc. Also check if WMP9 is suitable for Windows ME.
