My boyfriend calls them "skank stamps" He thinks girls with tattoos look like whores. He tells me that my body beautiful and that it would be waste to disfigure it with tattoos.

I have a lower back tattoo and not once has it been called a tramp stamp. I got mine done when I was 16 and its of the claddaugh, the ever so popular Irish symbol of the hands, the heart and the crown that even people who aren't Irish love to have. I got mine done for personal reasons, and because of how big it is, my artist (he's also done the other two I have) recommended that I get it done there. If you need to come on here and ask what other people are going to think about something on YOUR body, then you shouldn't be getting it done. Who cares what other people think about what you've done to your body. Yes its a turn off to some and a turn on to others, if its something you want to do and the design you have has some personal meaning to you then by all means go ahead and get inked!

I'm bowing to Angel B for that insightful response! I have to admit, I am female so you might not be interested in my opinion anyway. I have a tatt on my lower back of my family crest. I had it done almost 6 months ago and havent had a single bad comment, look or anything. I've had A LOT of compliments from family, friends and strangers both male and female, about how original it is and plenty of questions about what it is and why I chose it and most responses are "wow, that is so cool, unique etc etc". Just make sure it is something you'll still love seeing in the mirror in ten years.
Personally, I don't think anyone is going to want to see my lower back, tattooed or not when I'm 80 and of course the tatt will be wrinkled and probably quite unattractive but I hope to look at the blurry colours and smile thinking of how much I loved showing it to people when I first had it done and the pride I felt in it.
You'll get a lot of negative replies (as you already have!) but at the end of the day...your body honey, if you like body art then paint yourself!! ;)

OK I am not a guy but it seems that a lot of men think that a tattoo in that area is a tramp stamp and that is ridiculous I have a tattoo in that area and I love it, I also have six other tattoos.

Wow, LOL at some of these responses. OK here let me sum this up for you. What do YOU think of tatts? Who cares what anyone else thinks? You shouldn't even care what others (men or women) think of your body. I am continuously telling people NEVER worry what others think. There are so many different types people in this world, there are materialistic people who care about money and what you have, there are the people who only care about looks and the "perfect" body, there are takers, givers. and then their are the "REAL" people the ones who love you for you, not you money, not your looks, what you can give etc etc. If there were more REAL people divorce rates would be much lower (lol) Now if you want the tatt because you like body art and because it appeals to YOU, go for it. I would suggest getting one that can be seen ONLY when you want it to (back, ankles, chest) you know places that clothes conceal. Then when you want it to show wear sandals, or half shirts, or something simiiar. I personally have several tatts and I love them. so does my family. I would definitely be careful in choosing the tatt you dont want one you wont want later in life. But whatever you do, do it because it suits YOU and noone else. If a guy you like decides he doesnt like you because of a tatt then you DON'T want him anyway. today he may not like you because of the tatt but say you had it taken off (just an example) but lets say 5-10 yrs from now he would be the same guy who would no longer like you because you have a baby and have stretch marks or gain 10 pounds from being pregnant. OK so now what you should do is go check out a few different tatt shops and look through the designs see if anything "jumps" out, one you just have to have, have them put the outline on you and if you have to look at in several different places on your body, till one just makes you smile then have it done. Good luck and remember to do this because Y O U want it not because of what other people (men or women) think.

Some guys like em...some guys don't...BUT do you really want to hang out with someone that gets that judgemental about the placement of a tattoo? That would be a bit closed minded of them dontcha think?

go on jump on the band wagon!! They look cheap and slutty...
I have seven tattoos, and I will never get a tattoo there because of the lastest trend....
Lower back tattoos also come with micro mini denim skirts, long ugg boots, singlets and don't forget your scarf girls.....

I'm not a guy, but I'll still give my input.
I personally think that the lower back tattoo is overused these days. It seems everyone and their mother has one.
Just keep in mind, are you going to still enjoy this tattoo when you're 80 years old?
Also, keep in mind it's often times referred to as a "tramp stamp." I'm not saying you're a whore, but some people may view you differently for the above reason. Just some things to consider.

Personally I loathe them every time I see young lady and you see
the tattoo. reminds me of sailors years ago they used to come back with tattoo's of nude women on their arms also anchors, eagles etc you must be hard up for decoration.Chances are in twenty years time you'll regret having it done.
