The earth is not 6,000 years old. The creative days in Genesis had nothing to do with the creation of planet earth. If you will notice in Gen. 1:2, the earth was already in existence BEFORE the first "day" started. The creative days were stages in time that Jehovah used to prepare the earth for human habitation.
The universe, including the heavens and the earth, could be millions or billions of years old.

As per the Bible & the Quran , the earth was created by God in a few days and it was mainly for us humans & that earth was the centre of the Universe.
What is surprising is that modern science now discovers that earth is actually a new planet revolving around a mid-size sun in a Galaxy amongst a million other galaxies.
To sum up its like our Galaxy is as important to the universe as a single blade of grass is to the earth.
To worsen things, even on earth we are relatively new entrants, and have been dominating the earth for approx 4,000 years out of the 4,500,000,000 years that earth has been around.
Makes all the religous books look very very silly.

Earth's is 5000 years old not 6000.And earth's life cycle is also 5000years. Universe is not created by GOD. GOD is just a person who too plays a role like us in this Universe, but he is Supreme to all of us.Because universe is powerful than GOD just like a film is powerful than its hero. That's it.
Like energy is neither created nor destroyed. Universe & GOD too are neither created nor destroyed. So never think how much old is GOD & Universe.

the earth is far older than the 6,000 years which bishop Usher put it at. geological evidence places age at approximately 4 billion years. the universe has always been here it just took a rather big bang to set things going.

Another quote from the bible i take it taken literally - they are myths and fables to make you behave morally - remember a fable makes you think, why did they say these quotes, is there an underlying message. I don't read the bible but i understand what it is about. I wish that the rest of the world would take it onboard that it was written by persons giving their interpretation of whatever. Why believe them rather than me.

Surely anyone that has any brain at all knows by now tht man and everything else alive wvolved over millions of years.
I do not understand how anyone could believe what the religions teach. No such thing as a god.

For the early authors of the bible, all beyond the "firmament" was black (or dark). So dont expect a proper reply, most of them still believe that the stars are there to give us light at night.

Now, if ur serious about ur question, my ans will b serioud tooo.
Accordng to wat i kno,
GOd used to b the only existant being.
He started getting bord with no one around, and so he made characters(as in a movie) from himself, and those characters are all of us.
He did this to experience his own love.
Now, since evry1 in this universe is a part of God, if 2 ppl love each other(i.e. any kinda love), its basicaly God loving himself.
so the universe has bin ther from infinite years, frum the spiritual angle.
ok then,
cya and bye 4 now
