Did you have a look at the picture of India, 40 years ago. In comparision to pecentage of female foeticide in those days, I belive the conditions have improved a lot. Prgress and development cannot happen in a snap.

The U.S.A. took more than 200 years to develop into a strong and completely developed nation as today (British America borke of with It's colonial sister in the year 1776). India has just gone through 60 years. have patience...

if u r talking of the scenario in india, the probable reason could be the still existing dowry system. and hence a female is considered a big liability.sad..yeah? and hence the female foeticides.

Parents' inability to give dowry at the marriage and continue giving thereafter or to avoid seeing brutally murdered and burnt dead body of daughter by inlaws.

In India it is very much there as an unorganised business specially in Punjab and Harayana. However it practised as abortion else where.
