Since you say your hair goes red easily I would get some nice chestnut brown or chocolate higlihts. These will work well with the red tone but wont ruin your lovely pale skin. I would get them done in a t-bar- which only concentrates on the top of your head as its your first time getting them done. If you like them then you can progress to a half or full head of highlights next time.

I would get a trim to keep the ends of your hair healthy and ask the hairdresser to give you a few long layers all over your hair to give it a bit of body and make it easy to style.

How about, inch off length and feathered at the front, with some honey hightlights. Or with it being wavey, have loads layers, bit spikey look, but not too short, some chocolate highlights, and buy a pr, hair straighteners, to help your new style.

i wouldnt bother with the colour keep it as it is, just get a really nice cut in a bob shape with a sweeping fringe.

visit as many hair dressers as you can and get their opinions. go back to the one that comes up with the idea you like best so any money spent is well spent. any good cut will cost you though.

I would look at loads of pictures to see what you like, have a consultation, and skin test for your colour. So you are getting exactly what you want.
