I wondered how many miles/years a timing belt pulley on a 1.8 petrol ford focus will be safe for?

Stick with the manufacturer's recommendation of every 60,000 miles or roughly 100,000km.

15k...30k??? Not even close. These timing belts are designed to last 75,000-100,000 miles, but Ford, along with most other auto makers recommend changing them every 60,000 miles. Anyone who suggests changing them every 15k miles has obviously never paid the $$$ to have this done, not to mention performing a useless procedure, otherwise they wouldn't be giving such misinformation.

Read your service manual or ask a Ford Technician for verification of these figures.
