Traditionally, the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is perpetual unrepentence. Jesus teaches that all sins will be forgiven, and he does not make that fact contingent on anything. However, the sin of unrepentence cannot be forgiven, because they refuse to accept forgiveness.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit was just what it says in the text of Mark 3:28-29: "I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin." Jesus said this in response to the Pharisees, who had called the Holy Spirit by whom Jesus cast out demons an unclean spirit.
May God bless you

Because the spirit is the one who provides the desire for forgiveness in the first place. If you done this wrong, you're not worried about forgiveness; you don't want it. As long as you are able to seek forgiveness, you know you cannot have done this.
*To Rick V, below:
I have my own view on this passage, but I'm not stating that I am 100% certain of it. This is a difficult passage. Not surprisingly, people mainly ask questions about the difficult passages. The fact that people have different views on them hardly indicates the illegitimacy of the whole. Don't be so obtuse.

The Holy Spirit is the spirit of truth and to deny this is a grave offence, to leave this world in denial of the truth of Jesus and to believe that you cannot be saved is such a serious sin agaimst the Holy Spirit that it will not be forgiven, even in the next life.

It is amazing to listen to Christian believers give completely different answers to the same question. You know that you have been believing this garbage for centuries and still can't get it right. On one hand you say the bible is the absolute truth and on the other hand you say it is not literal -- on the other hand you say God is merciful and on the other you say he will condemn you to hell for inadequate belief. Christ is proported to say that God is love and at the same time you will not be allowed into heaven except through him. There are contradictions all the way. Some Christians believe emphatically that Judas was a traitor yet he was only doing the will of God. He had not the luxury of free will.

...there is only "one" sin that is unforgivable... just one... God will forgive you of everything if you truly are sorry and come to Him with your confession.... Oh, the unforgivable sin...? declairing "good" for "evil"...giving "evil" credit for the Goodness of God... it's in The Book... good reading too...
