My father did not let me date until I was 16. I think that was a mistake because what that did was delay my development in dating. I really did not mature enough for real dating until I was about 19 because my dad would not let me even get near guys.
Ask your mom if you could let a guy come over to meet her and spend some time together at your house.
All my kids are boys, but if I had a girl, I would be trusting her more than my dad did me.
Group dates, chaperoned activities, dances, etc are fine. Then you have to consider how mature the girl is too.
Tell your mom this woman on Yahoo answers is 53 years old and feels her dad's restrictions warped her ability to have relationships with men. See if that helps open up communication with her, okay?
She really is trying to protect you, you do know that right?

For mothers that is a difficult question and there is no right or wrong answer. Each child is different, I know some girls that are 19 and I dont think they are ready for dating. Then again I have come across 12 year olds who are responsible enough. But even in that case dating can be quite dangerous. I dont think you should fight with you mom about her decision, I think you must prove to her that you are in fact mature enough to date. Maybe suggest that you go on a double date with your best friend and two guys, maybe she will be happy with that.

16. Your mom wants you to concentrate on you- your studies and your interests. The more you have going for you when you start dating, the better your chances are that you will make good choices. You'll have more self-confidence and esteem and you will be attracted to boys that will help you grow in life and visa versa. I know it seems hard now, but enjoy your girlfriends and concentrate on YOU!

At 14 theres much to dating so tell your mum that you are going out with a guy friend (don't call it a date) and that she has to respect your wishes. Eventually trust will be built up and you will be allowed to stay out later and later. Have fun!!

Some parents are strict. my mom never gave me an age. if you like a guy you should bring him around your mom. let her get to know him, hopefully like him. then ask if you can go to like the movies with him or something. eventually it will get better. or try to talk her into a younger age like 16.

Obey your Mom. She has good intentions when she is tight with you as you are still young. Just enjoy group dating (barkada) for now.
