Something bad happens - The lord moves in mysterious ways
Something good happens - Thank god!
Its for people who dont want to take responsibility for their own lives. They say everything is in the hands of the lord

Oh, I think that's a BIT harsh. I wonder if maybe 'their' brains are wired up differently to 'ours'.
After all, we ALL have to make choices. They still chose to act in certain ways. And just like you and me, those choices are governed by what they think is right and what is the best course of action.
It's just that in their case they get their steer from a book, or a religious leader, whereas atheists have to rely on their own 'moral compass' or the views of people they admire and respect.
I don't think they necessarily absolve themselves from making judgements or choices by being religious. They still base their actions on their feelings and opinions like anyone else. It's just 'they' believe theirs come from outside themselves and 'we' don't.

I could understand that, but I personally think that religion was created because humans are the only species born to plan and think into posterity. We just can't accept that we don't know what is going to happen when we die.

it is more a refusal to think any different than mommy daddy did......when they separate or hate each other, they child becomes conflicted....religion is used as a substitute and is enforced by the guilt of generations....of the 'it is so old and so many people follow it, it must be true!'

I completely agree with your opinion...religion is, in many cases a comodity...it is convenient to have a God and blame him for everything...or wait for him to change things...

You are certainly right. It often amazes me why all these fable mongers give all thanks to god when things go right for them, but put the blame elsewhere, or even on themselves when things go awry. I think, they should have allowed their god to have it all, or be denied all!

Yeah, it's frustrating but I think the real problem is indoctrination of the young. They get brainwashed and it's harder for them to see what's real, even as adults.

It's preferable to your blanket answer: "It's all random and meaningless."
