After a struggle with a thief, you are likely to have got bruises in your neck thus the enlargement of lymphnodes around the neck. The bruises provoke increased production of the immune system which enlarges the lymphnodes. You however need to go for further tests incase they are increasing in size. Seeing a doctor would be the most likely solution.

levat is right, and if he choked you hard enough it will feel like whiplash. See doc. DO the exercises he gives you and he'll probably give you anti inflamiitories and mild pain medicine don't leave off the anti inflamitories they will help.
Take some self defense classes and get some good mace. I use this site, because it's pepper mixed with a form of nerve gas and it shoots 15 feet. I also have cameras and personal alarms...ok paraniod I know but sometimes your not paranoid they really are out to get you. Get the booklet too, if you use this spray wrong you will be hurtin' for certain. Cops go to their knees with this, don't use it on one, they recommended this to me as a widow. I took Self Defense, and I'm armed with knowledge and what the law allows....http://www.personalsafetyplus.com/category_Pepper_Sprays_Tactical_Use_Booklet-349.html

Stay in touch with your doctors until you get a definitive answer. The lymph nodes could have been swollen before you were attacked. Whatever the reason, you need answers.
If you have reason to suspect Lymphoma, this is the best website for info on that:
