I went to San Fransico its lovely. Las Vegas is only a short drive away and also the Grand Canyon in Nevada is really easy to get to.

Hope you have a good time.

Two weeks:

First Week So. CAL
Disney will take 2-3 days max.
Hermosa Beach is fun for beach day
If you want to stick with theme parks and beaches. ]
Knotts Berry Farm and Lego Land and Sea World are possible along with stop in San Diego

Otherwise. Use second week to head North. Can drive scenic route to Santa Barbara for more beaches (cute city) or head all the way up to Monterey and visit aquarium or go whale watching for day.

Use the remainder in San Francisco, go to Alcatraz, ride the cable cars, go to Pier 39 to see the seals etc....

Yosemite is incredible but your children may be too young to appreciate.

Although I must tell you the Waterfalls are incredible late March!

I would do Disney 2-3 days. Hermosa Beach 1 day
Head North to Yosemite 2 days
Head to Monterey 2 days
Head to SF for the rest. There is Great America theme park here (Santa Clara) as well as Marine World (Vallejo) both 30 minutes from SF.

You can't miss a trip to Las Vegas. The kids will love it as there is so much entertainment & you could never run out of fun things to do & see. The Grand Canyon is fantastic & Death Valley & the Joshua Tree national park are definitely worth a visit, but I don't think a 2 year old would find sight-seeing particularly interesting. There are plenty of attractions to visit around L.A. You could plan your trip to get the most out of the 2 weeks with a Lonely Planet guide book available from www.amazon.co.uk Have a great time!

Depends how much travelling you want to do...
San Francisco is great! A drive along the Pacific Coast highway between L.A. and San Fran is fantastic. Pleanty of beaches and Big Sur National to stop at along the way.
Las Vegas is a good distance but possible and Great fun (no need to gamble if you're not into that).
San Diego is REALLY nice too. Sea World there as wella s the Zoo.

If you want to remain more local to L.A. then there are the other theme parks (Universal etc).
The beaches are pretty much all nice - weather is warm all year, perhaps not definite bathing temperature over winter but I bet there will be a fair few surfers out in March.
Travel along Santa monica Boulevard to say you have. (It takes you to Santa monica too)
Venice Beach (Baywatch) Santa Monica, Malibu, etc - all the places you see and hear of on the TV. Most, I assume will be of interest to your 11 year old if not yourself.

An afternoon can be spent seeing Beverly Hills area, looking at houses of the stars (perhaps spot a celeb if you're lucky) There are lots of street vendors and shops selling maps to show where a lot of celebrities live.

Rodeo Drive is worth a visit to say "I've been there" every time you see it on TV after your return home. It's nice and very clean too.

See the Chinese theatre - where you will often see starsarriving on red carpets on TV, if you're lucky, in real life whilst you're there. The Kodak theatre next door plays host to the Oscars.
Look at the stars on the sidewalks along Holywood Boulevard.

A brief trip up to the Holywood sign can present a great view of the Holywood hills, Holywood itself and the downtown skyline (if the smog isn't too thick that day) Plus it's another "wow, I've been there" thing for the future.

There are always people offereing tickets to sit in the audience of TV shows and for preview screenings of new movies. I mainly saw them along Holywood Boulevard and in Venice Beach.

There are a million things to do! While in the L.A. area you can also go to LaBrea tar pits, Universal Studios, go see the ocean (even if it's a bit cold and you can't swim it's still an amazing thing to see, especially if you haven't been to the ocean before). Also, since you'll be so close you could drive down to San Diego and go to to San Diego Zoo. It's AMAZING! I lived there for 10 years and probably went to the zoo at least once a year. Also in San Diego is Busch Gardens and Sea World! Have a great and SAFE trip!

For kids, the theme parks would be the big deal. There are beaches, or course, but it's COLD now. Since you're already in Anaheim, consider heading on down to San Diego -- they have SeaWorld and the San Diego Zoo, etc. -- plus it's a beautiful city.
Back in L.A., there IS a zoo, but it's not overly exciting. There's Hollywood, of course, but not the glam place people thing it is. But, there's the Hollywood Hills, Beverly Hills, etc. to just drive around sightseeing.

Well in addition to Disney, if the 11 year old is a boy go to the Peteresen Auto museum (cool cars) and the Page museum (DINOSAURS) at the Le Brea Tar Pits both next to each other on Wilshire Blvd..The 2 year old won't remember anything but the older one will...all the L.A. kids go there sooner or later..

San Diego is worth the drive. Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World.

Since you have kids you definately should take a trip to San Diego. Check out the Zoo, SeaWorld, The Wild Animal Park (this is even better than the zoo b/c the animals roam free), and check out Legoland in Carlsbad. Take them to Old Town as well as Downtown San Diego. You can visit one of the missions down here and show them where CA was orginally settled. Mission Beach is great for kids, especially Belmont Park and the old wooden roller coaster there. Coronado was named #1 family beach by the Travel Channel adn the Hotel Del Coronado is worth visiting. The Birch aquarium in La Jolla is also a great place to take kids. Also stroll around Downtown La Jolla and check out the seals at the Children's pool beach. There are some good tidepools near Cabrillo National Monument.

When i went we went to knotts berry farm it is a theme park but it has a Native American Reservation within it and a small village just outside of it (even though its in the middle of a city) its great to get back to how the native Ameicans were. really I would go there again rather than Disney and I am a huge fan of Disney
