Meditation relieves the mind of stress and tension. When you pray, you meditate. So, you have peace and relaxation. It fills you up with positive energy while reducing all negative thoughts.

Short pray is not only beneficial rather very good thing to relax in between , be fresh again and again and do the work with new enthusiasm. If a man is continuosly sitting at one place for 8-10 hours per day or diong movement type work continuously he is sure to be tense and bored. On the other hand if another person works the same thing but with regular short breaks of about 10 minutes or so to offer namaz( it is a yoga type exercise) or similar thing five times per day during the span of 16 hours he is sure to be less bored, less tired and less tense. Just after namaz there is a "duaa"(alms from God ) of at least one minute providing the feeling that God is listening and so he will ease the life a little bit . That itself instantly reduces the tension a little bit and so negative feeling of tension and weariness goes slightly and so the lost interest in the work starts regaining. Regular prayers day and night keeps persons better physically fit having more enthusiasm than not preying at all, scientifically.

If you are a believer, the answer is obvious. So I'll try to address the non-believer (or the partial believer).

Prayer can consists of several beneficial activities:
1. Being grateful - this will help you see things in perspective and maintain a positive mental attitude. A positive mental attitude in turn will help you see solutions to whatever problems you are facing.
2. Release of problems - the health benefit of lowering stress levels has been well documented. Stress lowers the body's immune systems making it more susceptible to a myriad of diseases.
3. Forgiving others - the process of healing allows for the release of the past thus allowing you to focus on the future.

Ora et Labora - Pray and work. It was a valid combination then, it's still a good combination now.

Sawan,
Many religions of the world have truths in their core which attempts to point their followers to an understanding that in this life the human urge to "control" everything around them is an outright illusion !! And, when one looks closely at those truths -- they will find that they are rock solid fact !!
But, a person must face challenges each day---and sometimes the things that are "crowding in" on us bring pressures and troubles by the score---and having a resource to draw strength from beyond the physical realm of the actual gut level efforts to do what is expected of us---is a shelter to the spirit and a great sense of empowerment for a person !!
Sooner or later each of us have to deal with things that are MUCH bigger than we are---and there is only SO much that any one of us can be expected to hang in for-- until we are hitting the bottom of our abilities !! It is in THOSE times especially-- that a person can derive MAJOR benefit from prayer----Prayer takes the problems that we can no longer handle oursefves to a higher power -- and with faith in our beliefs-- it is an extreme relief to the heart and mind that is troubled to have a place to turn loose of problems that have become too much for us and in THAT we can feel much lighter about things and face the situation with far more confidence !!!

Positive outlook in life is the foremost thing you have to keep in mind. That is, with perseverence, negative thoughts should be deleted from mind as they appear. Next thing is to get initiated by a qualified guru in meditation or prayer or some interesting work-exercise that may be suggersted to you as a way of diversion.

First of all one should earn faith on him/herself. If your deeds are wrong you will be in tension and worries.
When you are right, your acts are right, the Almighty will be with you and in that case there is a use of prayer otherwise after doing wrong what is the use of prayer. The god listen for them who help themselves.
Good Luck! Change your habits and acts positively in favour of human beings.
