They just want you to become a convert. Just tell them, if this would be true then they would go to hell even earlier because they put shame on their religion. That's because they are pretending to know the hidden and not even the prophet Muhammad knew about the hidden as he said in the Qur'an. So they pretend to be something better then the prophet and this is really haughty and very unislamic.

I am a muslim, and that is rubbish. Only Gos knows people's hearts and He is the one who will decide who will go to paradise or hell.

Well in a way this statement is true for other religions e.g.
"is it true when Jews say that if you are not a Jew, you go to hell"

Any religion that has a concept of hell will require you to be a member of that religion (or a related one, as in the case of Islam's "people of the book"). Christians in particular believe that you must accept the core tenets of their religion to avoid damnation.
