im currently livingin spain, will my passport be stamped when arriving in britain, for a holiday visit, of about a week or so?

Every passport is stamped with an entry mark whenever presented at the point of entry to a country.

If there is a visa involved, say to overstay 90 days for work or study, then yes, I'd say there is a stamp. Most of the time on a tourist visit they just staple a stub from a visitor form onto the passport page and the airline retrieves that as a receipt you left before the time limit. Some visitors from certain countries have to have a visa, others don't. Go online. Link below is Tel Aviv British Consulate.

I must have a magic passport then. I've traveled the world and I've only one stamp (and I had to ask for it by asking if they still stamp passports from a border agent)

Yes it will... that's normal practice for entering and exiting countries and is a form of tracking who is coming and going.
