Your Mac has the software built into it to burn DVDs and CDs.
Load your blank CD/DVD, throw your files onto it, and go under FILE, and pull down to Burn Disc, simple.

As for which software, that depends on what you want to do.
Graphics, Web, Music, Design...

Congrats on joining the Mac world.
Youll like it.

Have you tried the iLife programs yet? A good place to get downloads would be from versiontracker.com and macupdate.com do a search at those sites for whatever your looking for. Sounds like you might want mactheripper and toast.
