Well, troops pulling out of Iraq and in the same news bulletin more troops going to Afghanistan. Answers the question, doesn't it?

Most likely we will and should send a certain amount of the troops from Iraq into Afghanistan. First off if you have been reading the news from around the world you will see that the taliban is comming back in a stronger way than it was. And afghanistan is also where Osama is probly hiding out or in pakistan.

It looks very much as though this might be happening. Unlike Iraq, which is a coalition operation, Afghanistan is a NATO operation. This means that every member of NATO may be called upon at some time to supply troops.

Why are we focused on Afghanistan? The Western Alliance needs to contain both Russia and China. Afghanistan is where you can do this, it's a cross roads.

The Russians and Chinese are both building up their nuclear arsenals and the West must respond to this. Tony Blair is already offering the US the option of installing anti-ballistic missile weapons here in UK. It's part of the American Star-Wars thing.

It's coming and a return to the 'Cold War' looks very much on the cards.

In addition to all of this, we also have to deal with the Persians who have a history of planning to dominate the West. They too have long range rockets, supplied to them by the Russians - possibly as many as six of these, with maybe the promise of more. The Persians are already close to producing their own nuclear weapon[s]. They have hundreds of thousands of centrifuges spinning right now trying to make the explosive material used in their A-Bomb[s].

War is inevitable.

I think the force of British public opinion is making Blair do this. In six months Basra will be under the control of radical Islamists. He sees the writing on the wall and I don't think there will be a redeployment to Afghanistan.

No, thats rediculous. The whole point of pulling them out is to have them away from that trash and letting the iraqis fight it out. Afghanistan is coming around much faster than Iraq and looks to have a better chance of being "clensed" of al-qaeda and other terrorist and insurgent groups.

i thought the same thing after watching the news. it said we were putting more troops in to Afghanistan due to other coalition forces not giving more troops ( us excluded I'm referring to the others).
