How do your eyelashes know when to stop growing?

I occasionally trim my own fringe - and a few times iv cut my eye-lashes in the proccess!! However they grow back quickly to the same length..

It is porbably due to a regulating hormone in your body. Endocrine glands send out maessengers to target organs to complete functions of intent. Also genetic instructions tell these glands the appropriate length for our particualr eye structure
