I feed him really good food from one of the few places here that sell the good stuff. i also add yogurt to some kibble and he likes that, and mostly raw burger meat....to really temp him. but he usually will only eat about 4 cups of kibble (I use Innova large breed puppy) divided into two feedings i try to give him more by feeding him 2 and 1/2 cups and he always leaves some.. i thought he would eat a lot and he wont eat plain kibble at all. what's up? has he really got me trained or is there a problem.?

He should be on adult food by now anyway. I find that my guys all eat different amounts, you can't go by what they say on the dogfood bag. Also, if you are using a high calorie kibble, he doesn't need as much food. Some Danes are just not big eaters.

He should be a bit on the lean side anyway at his age. He won't be mature for another year, and he will fill out more by then. If he looks good, then count your blessings!

My guys get a bit of canned food, with warm water to make it into gravy, on their food. Yoghurt is great! Perhaps he would like it better if he had some liquid on top. I often add chicken broth or stew juice to it too.

There are some Danes that are just plain picky, and you really can't do too much about it. As long as he is healthy, don't worry about it!

if he seems healthy in every other way IE playful sleeps well going to the bathroom regularly happy. then yep hes got you trained. possibly try eukanuba or science diet. Also the better quality the food the less food is required and a dog usually knows when it doesn't need to eat any more, usually check the feeding instructions on the package for amounts to give
I think 4 cups is probably reasonable, since he is about to stop growing sooooooo much

It sounds like about the right amount for his age.. as his body matures, the appetite decreases. ..Unless he is getting too skinny, I wouldn't worry. Innova is great for him..My huge pups eat twice as much at 8 months, as they do at 2 years..
Innova large breed is geared to keep large dogs from growing too fast. It may be time to switch to adult formula, if he will eat it.. I would first try the smallest bag..It will have a few more calories to put on weight..

Dogs are like us, we humans have days where we just want to nibble. Your dog will eat if he is hungry. If it goes on for a week, maybe you need to change his food or add something more tastful with the food.
My dogs were like that so now i add dog gravey to there food and they eat it up within 4 minutes.

WHY???
Because YOU *MADE* it that way!
ALL YOUR FAULT!!!
YOU are feeding it TOO MUCH CRAP!

All it should have is DRY***ADULT*** feed -ONCE a day!

But,hey,it's your dog-go right ahead & spoil it rotten & FEED IT TO DEATH!
Guess what? FOOD does ***NOT*** equal "wuv"!
