Is it better to sit the whole way up or go halfway???

well, they are both good and effective but if you want it really stretched , the whole one is better! i've tried both and the whole way up is a better result giving!

Look at any anatomy book and you will see that abdominals you are probably talking about contract the hips (or pelvis) towards the rib cage.

So any movement that does this should engage these muscles. Do not try it standing up though, because gravity effects it so that the lower back then works, not the abs (there are some exeptions but too much to go into to be of worth for you.)

Just do partials, not all the way up, while lying on the floor.
Once you can do 3 sets of 30 with your hands at the level of your head try to post again with another question for a different exercise.

neither is effective if you are talking about your abs..... the best exercise for your abs is similar to the pilates 100 while doing deep breathing at the same time. If you want more details let me know.

Both are good and very effective if done often.
