I'm from texas and I need something to wash down my bean and cheese tacos. Can't eat no carne asada, no menudo or that today because it's a friday during lent.

no it isn't...soda needs carbonation to be considered soda

To me, sodas are carbonated drinks. Since neither Hawaiian Punch nor Sunny Delight are carbonated, I think you can drink them and still maintain your decision to give up soda.

I don't see the sense of it.

If you are giving up something as a sacrifice for lent, but replace it with something else to avoid missing it, what kind of sacrifice are you doing???? none, so you may as well keep your soda. It is a bit like if Jesus had said "well, I volonteer for the cross, but just as we speak of it, why not just take my cousin?"...

Do it, or don't. You can always drink water.

No those are both juices. And nice. because soda is one of the things I gave up, too. Basically almost anything carbonated (fizzy) is soda. So you're safe.

any drink with carbonation is considered a soda, so your choise are ok
