That all depends on if there are any advantages to having the door closed or open. While closed, nobody can see you doing your business, but open, you can look out into the house.

depends on whether your home by yourself or not doesn't it nd whether anybody else has a key and is likely to walk in and on whether or not you want to stink up the whole house or just the bathroom.
