mp3 is already a compress format for music file. you can't compress any further. wma, acc are 2 other compressed format for music files.

if you have the program that came with your mobile, use it, it will let you to transfer music to your mobile, and it will compress more futher in mobile format, which can be only played by your mobile device.

MP3 (and related formats) are already compressed versions. The "raw" versions that are ripped from CD are generally about 10x the final size.

If you want the full mp3 instead of a ringtone, but you want smaller file sizes, the best way to do it is to downgrade the bitrate. There are several methods, but the most straightforward without more downloads/installs (but longest, time-wise) is to record the MP3 to an audio CD, then rip it back to an MP3 - but with the lowest bitrate available, like 64k. Your original 320k song at 6MB will now be around 1-2MB.

There is other software to do that in a much easiser process, but freeware is always questionable - regarding hidden spyware. Try http://www.sourceforge.net for some safe (safer) utilities.

I agree with JLo's answer. I thought Mp3 is allready a compresseddata file. I can put a song from media center, quick time, real player, or from a cd in phone tools via a usb cable. OR I can save a segment of a song to my sound files on my Razr phone. It's more difficult to "Send" songs via emails than it is to directly connect your phone thru a usb cable. I don't know exctly how emiling songs works, but it works on my razor without having to email anything. I just use phone tools and a usb cable. I got songs in thier entire length, as well as short pieces of songs for use on my phone as ring tones for all my contacts.
