Yes, he died recently, but he has been seen on the repeat showing of Rick Stein's series on BBC, perhaps that's why you don't believe hubby. I gather he was getting on a bit and hadn't been in the best of health which was why he didn't go to France (I think it was France).
He died January 13 2007, aged 17.

Yes Chalky is no more. Saw it in th papers last week or week before.
He had a good life & was loved by Rick & his family.
May be we could have a bank hoiliday in his honour.

Yes, sad to say it is true. However he was 17 years old, so you could say he had a good innings.
I am suprised he lasted that long considering the types of foods the poor dog was subjected to. No disrespect, but dogs should not be fed food not for dogs.
He died in October or November last year.

he was used as the main ingredient
in a Malaysian delicacy dish
by accident,when rick was filming
"learn to cook oriental style dishes using traditional ingredients"
filmed recently in malaysia
the thing that upsets rick the most
is that he is still flossing bits of chalky
out from inbetween
his teeth ?
