Enetially my parents did. I was raised going to church every sunday and I remember when I was about 8 yrs old my sunday school teacher told us that there are false religions and they will try to trick you and will be judged by God. This scared me. I asked the teacher how do we know we aren't the false religion? I couldn't get a straight answer from her. I rebeled against this religion for alot of my life. But now i'm older and I have made the selection for myself. They gave me the background and foundation but ulimately the decision rest on my self. So when people ask me why I believe in God and Jesus I tell them because I want to. I don't need to prove God to someone else, you have a free will make the decision yourself as for me I made my decision and Im happy for it.

My parents did when I was young and sent me to all sorts of Christian churches...ultimately I made the choice for myself when I turned 22 not to be religious but accept that there may or may not be a higher being but I don't have to be religious to be a good person. In fact, I have found that being religious can make a lot of people not so good. That was a little more than you asked for but I like to lay it all out there. Good question!

When I was eight years old, it bacame apparent that the biblical tales of creation could not be reconciled with the scientific evidence. Since the science is obviously right (it works!), religion had to go. It is still gone.

I don't see myself as part of a religion. I am a Christian and all too many people believe that makes me some kind of religion, but it doesn't. I believe in God, that Jesus IS the son of God and that it requires salvation to go to heaven. No one chose my faith, not even me. Jesus chose me. I didn't ask him to, he came to me and saved me when i couldn't do anything more for myself and I am eternally grateful.

God selected everyones religion & then our parents have the responsibility of guiding us to the correct religion which god has chosen for us, if our parents fail to do this then when we become mature adults it is our duty to follow the religion we were born to follow.
I am glad my Parents guided me to the right religion.
I am Muslim & proud to be part of the religion Islam

I like your question. I wish I knew who lived 500 odd years ago so I could find out. I'm not religious though.

Jehovah chose the way his followers should act, I decided to be one. Was I raised one? Yes. Were my brothers? Yes. Did they decide to become Witnesses? No. Did I have to study and think and learn and pray allot before deciding?? You bet.

My guardians tried to shove Christianity down my throat as a child.
But I chose another religion to follow because it answered my spiritual questions.
