I ran the mile in high school and am now a professional fighter.

A coach told me to run sprints (Run a 100 yards and walk 20) for a mile three days a week and then run the mile straight twice a week. In three weeks I shaved one and a half minutes off my mile.

Last year I started running again and I did the same thing.

You could also run with a partner that runs faster than you and you have to keep up.

You could run on a tread-mil at a high pace and make your self keep the pace. Make sure that you don't hold the handle bars.

I hope that helps. Be Blessed

Fartleks, they're awesome, hard but pay big dividends.
