I never had floaters in my eyes before, but for the last few days I have had off/on again floaters appearing. They look like greyish dots falling down and then bouncing at times. (I'm 21 year old female).

I was also in a car accident, near X-mas, and I hit my head really hard. I had my eyes checked directly after the wreck, because my eyes hurt. Could it be a detached retina showing up?

I've scheduled an appointment with my eye doctor on Monday, but I'm worried until then.

Hi,
I think it's possible for people at any age to get floaters but not 100% sure. I have had floaters before, and have no idea what causes them. Mine just showed up one day. It was a little black dot that I could always see out of the corner of my left eye. Didn't know what they were until my sister told me. It was a real nusance but I never saw a doctor though. That was 4 years ago.The floater just went away on it's own and I've not had any problems since then. You're definately doing the right thing by seeing a doctor. I heard recently if you have them you should seek medical attention soon as it could detach the retina. Good Luck.

floaters are something that has found it's way in the eye and shows up when it crosses the cornea/iris area....you are actually able to see these things. i've noticed more floaters in spring, or entering a place that might of recently dusted. they are odd shaped and it makes you wonder what you've encountered!

now, if you are seeing colored dots, i'd worry.
