The Old Testament prophesies of the coming of the Son of God, Jesus. That is how the apostles recognized that Jesus was what He said He was. The dispute was because Jesus challenged the Pharisees and Sadducees who were the leaders of the Jewish religion. They had turned the religion of God into a religion of man for their own gain. It had become legalistic and was not based on grace. The OT is only half of the story. Jesus is the completion.
Jesus is the messiah that the OT taught would come. I would disregard my upbringing if someone I know died and rose himself up from the dead as he told me he would.

The Jewish religious officials in Jerusalem had been corrupt for over two hundred years, by the time Jesus appeared on the scene.
Some of their most basic teachings were indeed correct, but they been supplanted by so many needless rules and regulations, that no one could make much sense of them anymore.
The office of high priest, which was orignally handed down through male blood lines, had become a political "plum" and the profitable "concession" was now actually awarded to the highest bidder.
All the associated Temple offices had become political patronage jobs, and all the related Temple services had become for profit business enterprises.
The traditional rules of the Jewish faith had become corrupt as well, no longer serving God, or the people, but only the needs of the people who ran the corrupt system.
Jesus came along, called these guys "blind guides" "vipers" and "sons of Satan" and he was right.
Jesus also clarified all the teachings of the law, the prophets, and the psalms, by perfectly observing them, preaching about them, finally setting them aside, and replacing them with the new and better covenant in his own blood.
So, when you're a corrupt, tin horn politician masquerading as a man of God, and the only begotten Son of God decides it's time to personally come down from heaven, straighten out your act, and perhaps put you out of business, what do you do?
Crucify him, of course!
And even after Jesus rose again from the dead, the Jewish power structure continued to brutally persecute the apostles and disciples, wanting to kill them, just as they had killed Jesus.
God gave the Jews 40 years to figure it all out and get on the right side of things. When they didn't, he permitted the Romans to come in, competely surround Jerusalem, and burn the joint down, including the Temple.
Shortly afterwards, the Jews were acattered and dispersed, and the old Temple worship system was no longer, forever.
The new covenant Church would be the only universal system of salvation available on the earth in the future, and the truths of the Christian Church, guaranteed by God himself, were totally superior to the opinions of the corrupt old rabbis, who still couldn't bring themselves to accept Jesus, the promised Messiah.

Mark 12:35 While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, he asked, "How is it that the teachers of the law say that the Christ is the son of David? 36 David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared:
" 'The Lord said to my Lord:
"Sit at my right hand
until I put your enemies
under your feet." '
37 David himself calls him 'Lord.' How then can he be his son?"
The large crowd listened to him with delight.
He was quoting Psalm 110:1

It was already written in God's word that he was to be rejected. There need not be any other reason, if God's word says it, it has to be so.
Isaiah 53
1 Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
3 He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
8 By oppression [a] and judgment he was taken away.
And who can speak of his descendants?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
for the transgression of my people he was stricken. [b]
9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the LORD makes [c] his life a guilt offering,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.
11 After the suffering of his soul,
he will see the light of life [d] and be satisfied [e] ;
by his knowledge [f] my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, [g]
and he will divide the spoils with the strong, [h]
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.

because people change. Jewish people came off of some polythestic religion. Then even though many didn't want to convert to christianity they were forced to unless they wanted to die.

They did what you have just done, stained at gnats and swallowed camels. We should learn to study as a child. Knowing that the Father would never lie.

The Church killed people who didn't convert. Some simply chose their lives over their long-standing beliefs.

coz some teachings frm d Bible does not conform to their beliefs.
some reason out that the old covenant (dey intrepet it as d OT) is no longer valid for christians. dey pointd out dat its for Jews only.
some say that they have the key frm heaven..and dat includes choosing which one is aplicable to their church and which are not.
some argue that it is needed to differentiate christianity with the jewish system.
but dey shud not 4get dat all teachngs of Jesus recorded frm New estament come frm d Old Testament.
i am a Christian but i accept the whole Bible as one. n fact, i firmly believe dat the Book of Genesis itself is sufficient to explain the pure teachings of Christianity..fm d topics of evolution through eternal life. because God's teachings reflects HIs characters so it shudnt change. His doctrines are the same frm the beginning to His second coming.
wat changes wer d means to convey God's plan of salvation. Say in d OT, we had the Temple services (burnt offerings, sacrificial of lambs, etc..) to impart the plan of salvation. but in d NT, Christ teaches us that He is the Lamb. d details of d old temple services wer gone but d meaning is stil der. in our generation, we hav d whole picture of it.
d problem with the Jews is dat dey stil cling to the old temple services and dey did not recognize Jesus as the Lamb.
d problem with some christians now is dat dey tolerating the 'gap' between Jews and Christianity by acepting this notion dat NT is for Christianity, OT is for Jews, etc. dey must not forget dat the one they call as 'father' Abraham was a Jew, King David was a Jew, and even Jesus is a Jew.
some even using sarcastic words to trample Moses' works or laws. r dey aware dat its d same God who gave instructions to Moses how to do the Tabernacle system..and same God dat dey r worshiping now?
some christians are helping Jews to regain their 'promise land' upon believing dat once the promised land is brought back to the Jews, Christ will come. i dnt think dats wat d Bible says. Nowadays, nationality is not an issue in salvation.
dey must know that the Jewish nation was used by God to spread HIs doctrines to the Gentiles in the times of the OT. dey wer just models for d pagan nations. meaning God wants everyone to be saved also..not only Israel.
frm Adam to Noah to Abraham to Moses to the prophets to the kings to Jesus to the disciples..meaning Old and New Testament..its d same God that is working. its d same Holy Spirit who gave the writers of the Bible the inspiration..so why spliting His Word?
