BTW I am a Deaf woman and I have had a couple of relationships with Deaf men. But only once with a hearing man. So are hearing people uncomfortable with dating Deaf people? If so, why?

I am a hearing woman and I would not have a problem having a relationship with a deaf man. There are many other ways to communicate besides talking and I am sure it would just give us other ways to get to know each other. Anyway, they say talk is cheap, so I think it would be nice to get to know someone on another level. A hearing person could take signing courses, instant message, and write letters in an effort to bond with their deaf partner.

Well I unfortunately haven't been around many deaf men, so its hard to answer this one as I am pretty ignorant to the differences and similarities regarding lifestyles of deaf people. Honestly, the first thing that came o my mind is I love listening to music, dancing to music, and watching movies. Then my next thought was, I am sure movies are played with captions just like TV s I could adjust to that. I would have no problem dating a person (if I wasn't married that is!!) who is deaf because there are lots of different ways to communicate including learning sign language. I do have one question and I am being sincere, how would an argument work out, I have seen deaf people sign and they appear to be auguring, how do they keep up in an heated argument, being that people who are arguing normally do not listen or in this case pay attention to people they are mad at?

Well first one must realize that if a hearing woman actually believes you are less intelligent after explaining that you are deaf, then she isn't the right hearing woman for you! Wouldn't you rather be with a fellow intelligent woman who just knows what deafness is and just accepts it as that? I think many women may find a disability to be baggage that is not right for them, but so many others would find very few issues with deafness. Heck, I've had a crush on a blind guy before, and he didn't know I existed!

I went on a couple of dates with a guy who is deaf, I only know very limited sign language and he couldn't speak or read lips, so it was very hard. We had to write or gesture to each other and it was very tiring. It wouldn't stop me from dating another person who is deaf but I would need for them to be able to communicate via reading lips and being verbal.

But, communication is VERY important to me, in fact - it's my job.

really have never thought about it. I think if I meet someone I like that It wouldn't be much of a problem, I had a deaf bus boy at a place I use to work, I learn a little bit of sign, but understood him a lot better then busser that spoke spainish.

I wouldn't think so, you can always learn sign language just as you would any other language. I imagine it could be to much for some people to want to take on, but then they are not in it for the right reasons anyway if they are not willing to work for it.
