I am looking for some Vietnam-era, clear solid dog tag silencers. They are not the "frame type" silencers sold today. They are a clear rubber or plastic sleeve that covers the WHOLE dog tag, not just the edges. Does anyone know where to get that style silencer today? Thank you!

Go to a website called www.actiongear.com which is a website for an awesome source for gear one needs though cannot obtain at the clothing and sales. The catalog is the Brigade Quartermasters Ltd. Here is the link for silencer kit i think you are talking about. I remember an NCO in my unit who had this and seeing it a few other times. I hope this is it!

I have learned wonderful things, look on Ebay, if they're still made, one of the many dog-tag stores on there should have them, or be able to get them for you. Just remember to search stores. Because there's hardly ever anything like that in auctions.
So just look for the shops there that sell dog tags, and start asking around.

Wow... that would be tough. The only place I could think of would be a flea market or an army/navy surplus store.
Even then the silencers might be brittle and worn down. They were disposable after all.

All they sell at the PX and Clothing & Sales is the black frame rubber silencers. I have been in the army for a few years now and I have never seen the type you are talking about.
