I am certain that it's the Chantix. I take vitamins with it, and it's the only thing new that I take. The hives are intense, and the cover my complete upper body, including my face. Thanks.

It might not be the Chantix at all. It could likely be that the reaction is from taking certain vitamins with Chantix. Vitamins and other medications can cause a reaction while taking Chantix. Tell your doctor about your use of vitamins with this medication and ask your pharmacist for a printout list of side effects and drug interactions associated with Chantix. How are you doing now, are you any better? I hope you are, be well. (Perhaps an Antihistamine injection from your doctor or a local hospital:)

It sounds like you have alot of hives, can you breathe ok? sometimes hives are internal too like in the throat, if you have trouble swallowing or breathing go to the ER pronto. For the body hives and itching, try aveeno anti-itch spray, they also have oatmeal packets you can put in the bathtub and soak with. Take benedryl as well. If these do not help, try calamine lotion and icing the intensively itching ones. Products with lidocaine or benzocaine for sunburns like ICE, Solarcain are also very good to use as they help numb as well. Do not take any more of the chantix and make sure you tell your doctor about the reaction with the next visit.

Stop taking the stuff immediately.

Go get some benadryl at the local pharmacy. Generic is OK. Take a double dose to start, and then follow the directions on the label.

Stay out of direct sunlight.

A tepid bath with Aveno oat meal bath treatment might provide additional relief.

If you have problems swallowing or breathing, see your doctor immediately, or go to the emergency room for prompt treatment.

It will take a few hours to notice any relief, and then you should see a gradual improvement, stretching over a couple of weeks.

Stop taking it immediately and contact your MD. Allergic reactions to meds can be quite serious. If you ever take it again in the future or a similar drug, you may have a worse reaction. I'm a nurse in a hospital and we would always immediately stop a med causing that type of reaction.
