Microsoft allow you to buy their student licenced software off the shelf, some retailers will ask for proof that you are eligible, but it is rare.
However Adobe and usually want proof that you are a student, as do some of the other larger software houses such as Macromedia.
You may just be able to present your student card to get the cheaper license, but I am afraid it is usually a case of contacting the company who will send you a form to fill in, that has to be stamped and signed by the college. You then send this away and they send you the software or a voucher to cover part of it.
Go to your student services office and ask, they may have copies of the form on hand ready or they may give you a letter of proof.

It depends upon the company and the retailer. When I've purchased student editions in the past I've had to present a student ID as well as my course schedule from that semester to prove that I was taking courses. If you can purchase it through your college, they'll probably only require a student ID, since they can access the rest of the info.

Yes you haver to prove your a student. Not sure as to why as i have never bought such products. aybe its a cheaper version for students.
If you want to buy such items you have to take your student card to the shop with you to prove you are a student. If you dont have one, btake in a NUS card. Apart from those two proofs of id, i cant think of anything else which would legitimately prove your a student.

Download a free version of GIMP on this site: [link]
GIMP is a great free software you can use for a lot of graphic tasks like retouching photo, image and photo editing). I strongly believe GIMP is the best free tool for photo editing available online nowadays. It's as good and as powerful as photoshop but GIMP can be use also used by a lot of professionals.
