i have a girlfriend and she wants me to tell her i love her, but i can't. its not that i don't love her its because i don't know how anymore. i lost faith in hope and love since i been left in Iraq for torture for a year. this is my first time speakin about this and it's not that they left me, they thought i was dead. when i came back my girlfriend was dating another guy but haven't slept with him yet and she dumbed him right away when she found out i was alive. she just moved on too fast and left me without any hope i was still a live, what should i tell her and do?

What you have been though my friend is no ordinary experience. It's a life changing experience. I cannot begin to imagine how alone you must feel or how strange your life may seem now. I can only tell you that it will go away if you want it and you are willing to work on it. And in time, I hope you will be able to use your experience to squeeze out of life the most you can and to savour each and every moment, something that most people cannot do (and that's why they call them life changing experiences). As far as your girlfriend is concerned, you feel hurt by the fact that she moved on so quickly. But some people need to do that in order to survive. Tell her how you feel and take your time to sort your feelings out. It is crucial that you take as much time as you need and don't blame yourself for anything. Do not give up on love and certainly not on hope, after all you are still alive against all hope and someone up there must definitely love you to spare your life. Most importantly you must talk to a professional, a psychologist. The things you keep inside are poison and you need a trained eye to spot their meaning and let it all out so that you can move on with your life. Never despair, I wish you all the luck and we all here hope to hear from you soon.
