Probably the greatest one written (besides 'Vincent' by Don McClean) was written by Bob Dylan. It's really about the struggles, dreams and trails or errors of most serious artists. It's called 'When I Paint My Masterpiece.'
You can find it on his 'Greatest Hits, Vol. #2' album or CD or you can probably just look up the name and lyrics on-line.
