Mental problem is not insanity. So long she don't hide it from the start, I won't mind.

Well let me just say that it if you really love the girl and your prepared to stand by her then the mental problem would bother you but also it depends on how bad the problem is. If I had a girl with a mental problem I would stand by her through thick and thin.

For me the answer is YES. Back about 7 years ago I dated a girl that I soon learned had mental trouble. She hid it from me at the beginning, but after a while it became obvious, and she was seriously hard to get away from.
She claimed that there were ghosts in her house, but she wouldn't listen to reason when I spent the night in the house with all the lights off for a night and slept the best that I had in months. She wouldn't believe that I didn't see or hear anything "ghostly". She would tell horendous lies to try and make me and others feel sorry for her. The only reason I dated her as long as I did was that she was so sexually spontaneous, which I figured out was also due to her mental state.
After about a month I was seriously tired of the bs and tried to break it off, but she came at me like she was going to hit me. (I never raised my voice or a hand to her so this was waaaaay weird). Then when I just told her that this was exactly the reason I was through with her she grabbed a kitchen knife and ran into her room with it and threatened to kill herself with it if I left her.
So then I tell her that I'm leaving anyway because who would want someone like that so she throws herself at me and begs and begs till I take her back. But this lasted about a week. I'd get up to go to work on 3rd shift and there's be these screaming messages that she was being hurt, and that I needed to call her imediately. So I'm scared as heck and I call her house and she answers the phone and just laughs because it was ll some kind of seriously demented ploy to get me to worry about her. Needless to say I dumped her during that last phone call, but then she stalked me for months. I had to change phone numbers, email addresses, staw away from where I met her...all that.
So NO, I'd never try to stay with a girl that I thought had mental trouble. This usually means that they are so self centered and involved with themselves and their own feelings that they can never have room in their life for a healthy relationship with someone else. Although they may think they want someone else, in reality there is just no way for someone else to take any time away from this person's self-absorbed dillusions.

If it gets in the way of everyday, sorry, won't do it.

Don't all girls have some sort of mental problem or two?

On that note, I guess if its not extreme. But if she can't keep up with me that's kinda hard. I wouldn't go there.

if she is taking more then the minimum dose of zoloft, welbutrin, lithium, or prozac you might want to think twice. What if you are having a child? Ask her in depth questions about her family... anger outburst? suicidal thoughts? suicide in family? Does she abuse you, torture you, yell at you? Does she not let you see your friends is she overly possesive? Does she bite her nails or chew her hair? Is the sex good enough more then 5x a week? This is something you will live with the rest of your life 60 years or more!!! and it will only get worse, trust me it will as she and every women out there get more balls to slay their man.

Depends what the problem is - if she's going to put an axe in your head when your back is turned I'd say no. Is it treatable and what sort of effect would it have on your life if you got together.
