In most states, once it has expired, it has expired and is no longer good to drive with. Depending on the state or the officer, if you get stopped driving without a valid license, they could give you a ticket, impound your car and give you a healthy fine. Again that depends on the officer and the state. Just go to your local DMV and get it renewed ASAP. There isn't any penalty in most states for renewing it a little late. They will renew it as of the day it expired.
You usually can only get into trouble if you are caught driving with an expired license. It is worth the chance?

There is no time frame after your tag expires. You will get a ticket if you are stopped for expired license plates. You have until the very last day of the month and that is it.

Depends where you are. Here in Florida they are tolerant to a degree. I was 2 months late renewing once and the DL office said nothing, just renewed. Sister got caught driving 4 months after her birthday and the cop told her to look after renewal immediately, but gave her no ticket - not even a warning. She is blond and cute though, so that may have had something to do with it.

Depending on the officer. Some cops are very understanding. They won't give you a ticket or anything just tell you. On the other hand there are a lot of not so understanding cops and the law is the law. So get to the DMV asap and get your license. You have 'till your birthday and that's it. Good luck.

after they expire you have 0 days , I do not know about your state , but here if you go past the expiration date on your drivers license you have to have someone drive you to the DMV you can not drive yourself , they ask you first how you got there , if you say ," I drove myself " they will turn you away ..., and you have to re-take the drivers test ..((which after seeing how most people drive or forgot how to , I think they should do that every time someone gets them renewed....))

Some places give you thirty days after it expires to renew it without re-testing. But you cannot drive during those thirty days.

It expires on the expiration date. Otherwise it would be called something else. The day after your birthday, you are driving illegally.
