Liberal, if true to the meaning, and origin or the word, means someone who regards the liberty of all. This should have limit that would better not be trasgressed for the sake of community as a whole. For example it is not appropriate that liberty be for one more than another, i.e., the abuser should not have liberty over the abused to abuse them.

Therefore restraint is a must for true liberty, and these are the purpose of morals, ethics, reason, government, religion, and all other social binders. If those bound are the ones being abused by those very bonds though, the liberals must charge their steeds into battle and free those poor souls, but if the liberals go too far then the restraints must again be placed on their wrists.

A balanced society looks to Justice, and true liberty, and not merely one over the whole. Reward and punishment are the two pillars which hold this exalted standard of Justice aloft, for they are training to the balance of Justice.

God bless, Allah'u'Abha

huh? If you mean what could constitute a good liberal would be someone who changed things for the better. Bush would be a BAD liberal (as he has introduced more change than any other president in 50 years) and a good liberal would be...Salvador Allende. Look up the name. Great guy that helped and fed his people and was brutally assassinated with the aid of our govt. in 1971 in Chile. He was a good liberal because he fed his people with the money from the rich and realized that those who were in power were not there for being smarter or better but because they had land and money and other people had nothing. He fought the oligarchy and unfortunately lost. He tried to do something we should all hope to achieve one day which was to make everything more fair. That is a good liberal, someone who changes things for the better.

A good liberal is anybody who keeps an open mind and makes decisions which help to make the world a more fair, just, and happy place. Basically, a liberal is anyone who is more concerned about making people happy, safe or sated than about preventing change in the sociopolitical system.

Well liberals seem to care more about other people than money, from what I've seen. They also tend to keep their nose out of what other people do in the bedroom.

Shouldn't this be in politics?

A good liberal is someone who posts such questions in the proper category -- namely the Politics category, not the Religion one.

That goes for good conservatives too.
