Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with cutting as long as it isn't life threatening. Cultures all over the world use self harm as a sign of sorrow, but America has tabooed it. In light of cutting being a taboo here, and the way it can ruin relationships with people and compromise your social life, I'd recommend finding another outlet. Your parents obviously don't understand the outlet that is cutting, and they're only doing what they think is best for you. At least they are doing something. My parents probably knew when I was cutting when I was a kid, but they never said or did anything about it. They love you, and if you love them also you should probably find an outlet that doesn't worry them.

I agree with Steph....I started cutting when I was 13 and that lasted up until last year, I am now 29. Because of the cutting I have been in and out of the hospital several times due to infections and other. Please Please find someone to talk to, if not your parents then a counselor, teacher ect. I know what it feels like to need to self harm, when you lose control of everything else in life and the only way to deal or cope is to cut. But believe me it is causing you more damage in the long run. I still crave for and fight away the need to slice. I'm here if you need to talk or would like info on how to find and get help. Just remember your parents are keeping you in their sight because they do love you and do not want to see you cause anymore harm on yourself.

Try to stop cutting. Think positive about the things around you and keep a healthy mind. Try not to think so much about the bad things that are happening to you or the reasons you are cutting yourself for. If you really want to do, it try not to do it to the point to which your life could be in danger.

what you need to do is stop being an emo b*tch. frickin get a tennis racket and beat your pillow and mattress. its much more relieving. thats what my therapist told me. plus my parent didn't do jack, i got to keep all my sharp objects. but cutting isn't the answer. all you're doing is hurting your body and you may not know it but trying the have people keep bad for you or make people scared of you. it leads to no good. don't ruin your life and body this way. scars are unforgiving. what makes you want to create those scars can be forgiven, in time. sorry about the emo b*tch part. things like this get me on the edge because i regret so much for cutting. i'd do anything to get these scars off me.

Yes, you do need help...but your not searching for the right kind. You need someone to talk to, if you have a school counselor, talk to him for awhile, they can't tell your parents or anyone what you say, under governmental laws. You need to stop cutting. It'll be a long journey, but you can do it. I started cutting myself in junior high. I won't go into detail, but I'm so thankful someone got me out of it. I didn't want them too, I liked to slice barcodes into my arms, it was like a drug. Talk to a trusted adult or counselor. I know you don't want to, but please do it.

...Although you might be annoyed now, you'll thank your parents in the long run. Instead of cutting, try punching your pillow, or screaming loudly. I don't know.
I hope this helps, but don't think so.
