It sounds like your class is pretty boring to you. I used to get bored in my easy classes all the time. If it is a class you can get a good grade in without paying much attention I would suggest that you do homework from your other classes. It's work that you have to do eventually so why not do it at school and save the chatting and play time for after school when you can have more fun? If you just keep in mind that if you focus on your homework from other classes now, you'll have that much free time after school to do whatever you want.

Another suggestion I can offer to you is to make a game out of your class. See how close to a perfect grade you can get for the semester. I had a class where my teacher wouldn't let us do other work so I told myself that if I could get a 100% for the class that semester that I'd reward myself. It's really rewarding to get good grades, even if it is an easy class.

One last suggestion I have for you is to use your class time now to learn the material so you won't have to study for the final. If you can use that as a motivator to pay attention, you'll be glad when finals roll around and all of your friends are stressed out because they are studying their booty's off.

I wouldn't stop eating in class if your teacher allows it. Snacking on some healthy food is a good thing to do during the day and will help you get through the class. But snack and be productive at the same time.

Pretend you are interested in the class and maybe you may end up really interested enough to pay attention.

Try sitting in the front of the classroom.

Try telling your friends you need to pay more attention.

Try taking notes, you can't play around if you're writing.
