I have been prescribed 600mg three times a day of ibuprofen

Before taking this I have not been feeling too great-dizzines to the point of "greying out", great lethargy/fatigue, joint pain, muscle pain (and I think that's all)

So I am not sure if what I am experiencing are side affects of ibuprofen or not: lameness of the muscles, even more fatigue, vertigo, shrap intense pains (like stabs) on the right side (towards my back, right below my ribs), and a bit of fever

Please tell me of more side effects so that I know in the future, my doctor told me keep taking ibuprofen for five days (its the second day today) but if I get any side affets she said to stop taking it (she only metioned nausea, vomiting and stomach pain as side effects)

You should call your doctor, or, at least speak to her nurse and explain the feelings you are having. Or go into your local pharmacy and tell the pharmacist. Perhaps it's a side effect, but maybe not. If it is a side effect she can call in another prescription for you.

Have you checked out WebMD's listed side effects for ibuprofen? Check them out. In the end if you are concerned, call your dr.

Good luck!

Advil is Ibuprofen, so don't take that instead.

A rare but dangerous side effect of ibuprofen is Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. If you have a rash or develop one, or if your fever continues, go to the hospital or call your doctor ASAP. I would definitely discontinue the ibuprofen immediately and give your doctor a call now anyway just to let her know what's going on.

you probably have an allergy to it so try taking something like tylenol or advil

heres what webmd says:
This drug may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. Also, related drugs rarely have caused blood clots to form, resulting in heart attacks and strokes. This medication might also rarely cause similar problems. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about the benefits and risks of treatment, as well as other possible medication choices.

If you notice any of the following rare but very serious side effects, stop taking ibuprofen and seek immediate medical attention: black stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest pain, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech.

Ibuprofen appears to have the lowest incidence of gastrointestinal adverse drug reactions (ADRs) of all the non-selective NSAIDs. However, this only holds true at lower doses of ibuprofen, so over-the-counter preparations of ibuprofen are generally labelled to advise a maximum daily dose of 1,200 mg.

In low single doses (200 to 400 mg) and daily doses of up to 1,200 mg the incidence of side effects is low. However, in patients treated on a long-term basis with more than 1,200 mg daily discontinuation rates are as high as 10 to 15%.

Common adverse effects include: nausea, dyspepsia, gastrointestinal ulceration/bleeding, raised liver enzymes, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, salt and fluid retention, hypertension.

Infrequent adverse effects include: oesophageal ulceration, heart failure, hyperkalaemia, renal impairment, confusion, bronchospasm, rash.
Ibuprofen overdose has become common since it was licensed for over-the-counter use. There are many overdose experiences reported in the medical literature.[9] Human response in cases of overdose ranges from absence of symptoms to fatal outcome in spite of intensive care treatment. Most symptoms are an excess of the pharmacological action of ibuprofen and include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, tinnitus, and nystagmus. Rarely more severe symptoms such as gastrointestinal bleeding, seizures, metabolic acidosis, hyperkalaemia, hypotension, bradycardia, tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, coma, hepatic dysfunction, acute renal failure, cyanosis, respiratory depression, and cardiac arrest have been reported.

THE DOSAGE PRESCRIBED FOR YOU 600 mg X 3 = 1800 mg. IS MORE AND YOU CAN GO UPTO 1200 mg. ONLY. CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT THIS. YOU MAY HAVE THE ABOVE SIDE EFFECTS IF YOU EXCEED THE DOSAGE AND YOU MAY HAVE TO STOP IT IF YOU FIND ANY ADVERSE EFFECTS.-

It can be very irritating to the lining of your stomach. If it does this, you might see blood in your vomit. It's a good idea to take ibuprofen with something in your stomach, like food...crackers, something.
