Yes, cats should be spayed or neutered before reaching sexual maturity. This is because habits that have been formed (upon reaching sexual maturity) like spraying and wailing loudly may not go away if spaying is done after.

Secondly, a females ovaries and other reproductive organs would not be fully developed or 'functioning' at the time of the procedure. This normally simplifies the matter a lot and makes the entire spaying process less traumatic for the cat.

In fact some vets I know charge extra to spay a female that has reached sexual maturity or worse, is in heat at the time of the procedure.

Most vets will recommend spaying before the cats first heat. If a cat goes into heat and is not bred, they have a higher risk of developing cancer later long in life.

Yes, and spaying before the first heat gives you the most health benefits. Usually vets recommend spaying/neutering between 4 and 6 months old, or when the adult canine teeth come in if you don't know her birth date.

if she became spayed then no, there are not any kittens in her. a spay is an entire hysterectomy, there is not any uterus for the fetuses to gestate in, there is not any longer something yet her vagina left there. a spay in the time of being pregnant aborts the kittens, there is not any way that an animal could be pregnant after a spay. as for her ingesting greater, I even have stumbled on that this is amazingly straight forward in maximum female animals. even while all different well-being themes have been governed out (parasites, diabetes, thyroid) they could desire to nevertheless have an greater advantageous urge for nutrients and a widening girth. i think of it has to do with hormones :o) hormones alter a great variety of our (and kitty's) physique purposes that usually don't have something to do with being pregnant. issues like weight and physique temperature, moods or perhaps aches and pains. your cat isn't pregnant after her spay yet she is fit and happier and could stay longer and not could desire to hardship approximately pyometra, ovarian cancer and is way less in possibility of mammary cancer, bladder cancer, and behavioral issues. in case you have concerns then take her to the vet for a blood artwork up and a actual. thank you for having her spayed!

Absolutely...A good vet will recommend spaying around 6 mo of age. I've had my male cats neutered too, around 6 mo. they are much better pets for it...

I did. And she never had to go through the awful feeling of the hormone changes and I never had to see her that way. My cat was fixed at 6 months. Good Luck

Yes, and that is very ideal.

With each heat she has her chances for mammary cancer go up. If you spay her before her first heat, chances of mammary cancer get knocked down to near zero.
